Fifer Scissors Tip Of The Day
I wanted to share a tip from my beachbody coach and good friend Melanie conserning the Fifer Scissors move, which is the hardest move for me to do. I hope this will help some of you as I’m sure it will help me going forward.
“A trick to the Fifer Scissors which helped me… be sure to engage the glute for the leg that is parallel to the floor… really squeeze that cheek as you extend the leg.
Also, go for a pilates core on those moves… think about drawing the belly button in and up, really flex the abs (think C curve, almost), keep the pelvis tucked (to get the lower back as flat on the floor as possible), and it also helps if you tuck the chin and lift the shoulders off the floor too (just really crunching into the abs).
Keep the muscles of the leg engaged, try pointing or flexing at the ankle (either of those will engage the ankle, which helps you engage the rest of the leg… it’s better than just letting the ankle remain uninvolved). You’ll get there… before you know it you’ll be knocking all of those reps out!”
