P90X Insanity Hybrid Round 3 – Week 1 Update

Week 1 of round 3 is complete. I really just wanted to ease into the first week of the hybrid workout so I’m looking forward to a more intense week 2. Here is what I did for week 1:

P90X Round 2 Day 59 – My arms are looking big.

Todays workout was Shoulders and Arms. I had a really good workout. I decided to do the workout a bit differently today. I didn’t use the dvd, instead I just went off of the worksheet, and I decided to do the exercises from the bottom of the worksheet and work my way up. It was pretty cool to do it this way. I was able to do a lot more reps/weight for the exercises at the bottom that I am normally tired by the time I get to, and also I had to really push hard to get the normal amount of reps that I’m used to doing by the time I made it to the top of the sheet. I would recommend trying it sometime. Ab ripper x went very well also. I was able to complete the fifer scissors moves again which is pretty cool. About an hour or so after I finished the workouts my wife saw me with my shirt off and she said, “Your arms look really big!”. Yep, P90X Shoulders and Arms works… :)

P90X Round 2 Day 52 – Working my arms

I had another good workout today. I did Shoulders and Arms and followed it up with Cardio Abs. Both workouts went well. Bransen was over doing his Kenpo workout so he decided to do the cardio abs routine with me and he was suprised by it but it was good.

P90X Round 2 Day 45 – Incredible arm workout

I can’t believe that round 2 is half over already. What a ride. It’s going by fast! Today I had another really great workout. I did shoulders and arms and ab ripper x. I push so hard during both workouts and it was just incredible. I’m really excited about the progress that I must be making, with all these great workouts! I’m also excited about tomorrows Insanity workout!

P90X Round 2 Day 17 – Another breakthrough workout

Todays workout was Shoulders and Arms. I pushed myself as hard as I possibly could and I made gains in pretty much every exercise. By the end I had such an amazing pump going in my shoulders, arms and chest. I’m going to miss this workout for the next 6 weeks as well. Ab ripper x went really well today also. I’m very happy overall with todays shoulder and arms / ab ripper x routine. Bransen worked out with us again today and he did pretty good as well. He was using heavier weights this time and I think he got a nice pump from the workout too.

P90X Round 2 Day 10 – Lifting Heavy

Today was day 10 of P90X round 2. Shoulders and Arms. I tried to raise the weight or reps on every exercise and I had an amazing pump throughout almost the entire workout. It feels really good! Next week I’m going to try to bring it even harder if that’s possible. Ab ripper x went ok this week. I wish it was better but I’m not too disapointed in it. Overall todays workout was really good.

P90X Round 2 Day 3 – Shoulders and Arms

Todays workout was Shoulders and Arms. I did fairly well considering it’s been a few weeks away in Hawaii without working out. I actually was able to lift a fair amount of weight so I’m pretty happy about todays workout. My left arm and shoulder are still a little sore from the day 1 Chest and Back workout but I managed to work through the soreness. Bransen did well on his first shoulders and arms workout also. He decided to use lighter weights and focus on his form since he’s still pretty sore from days 1 and 2. He did better then I expected though. Ab ripper X went well for all 3 of us. I’m still at the stage where I can really feel my abs burning, even when sitting up in bed and doing normal daily activities. It’s a great feeling!

P90X Day 122 – Changing it up a bit

I felt like doing something a little different today so this morning instead of pushing play I decided to take a walk on the treadmill and then ride my bike around the neighborhood in place of the normal cardio x workout. It was a really nice change of pace and I’m glad that I did it. This afternoons workout was shoulders and arms. This time around I just tried to match last sessions numbers, which I did for the most part. There were a few exercises when I did a few less then last time but I’m ok with that. Overall, I think today was a pretty good workout day.

P90X Day 108 – The Glamour Workout

Todays workout was shoulders and arms, or as Tony Horton calls it, the glamour workout. I really like this workout because it’s strait to the point. You start off and finish up lifting hard and heavy. It’s a great workout all around. I also did my doubles cardio workout this morning which was really good. Even better then the last one. I was just dripping sweat like never before.

P90X Day 94 – Shoulders and Arms

Todays workouts were cardio x, shoulders and arms and ab ripper x. I did really well with both the cardio x and the ab ripper x. I had an average shoulders and arms workout. I was able to match pretty much everything from the previous session but I didn’t raise the weight or reps on any of the exercises except for maybe one or two of them. In fact I think that I may have lowered the weight on a couple in order to keep my form. Since I’ve been having trouble with the past few workouts, I’m thinking about dropping one of my doubles routines and doing only 3 per week rather then 4 like I have been doing. Maybe that will help. I haven’t quite decided yet though. I want to try to push through if I can but I want to make sure I stay healthy and don’t over train myself either.

P90X Day 73 – Another Awesome Workout

All of todays workouts (shoulders and arms, ab ripper x and cardio) went very well today. During shoulders and arms I was able to up the weight on most of the exercises. Once again compareing todays workout with the week 1 numbers, the difference is just totally amazing to me. I can only hope that I do just as well tomorrow with yoga!

P90X Day 59 – Shoulders and Arms

More big improvements on todays shoulders and arms workout.  I was able to up the weights on just about everything. Afterwards I was feeling really great. Exhausted but great. Cardio went well this morning and ab ripper x went fairly well also. I’m loving phase 3 so far. We’ll see how I’m able to do with yoga tomorrow. I’m not really looking forward to that but hopefully it will be ok.

P90X Day 17 – Bring it!

If there’s ever a workout where you need to bring it hard, it has to be shoulders and arms. I really like this workout and, like chest and back, I’m going to miss it on the off weeks. It’s the kind of workout where you will get out of it whatever you put in. And today I felt like I put in 100% and got back 110. I was able to raise the weight on most of the sets which is pretty cool. Oh, and I’m expecting a visit from Tony because I did 30 each of the side-tri-rises this time. :)

Ab ripper X was good as usual. I just can’t get a measurable improvement on the Fifer Scissors. I do so bad on those. I think that’s the hardest move for me in all P90X so far, barring of course the yoga balance moves like crane that I can’t even get into pose for yet.

P90X Day 10 – Shoulders and Arms

Shoulders and arms went very well today. I was able to raise my weight by about 5lbs on my 8-10 max reps over last week so that’s a huge plus. Also, I was able to do 25 of the tri-side-rise on both sides, for both sets which I think is pretty good! Ab ripper x also went well again today. The Fifer Scissors are still a pain but they are getting a little better I think.
